The Lively Cafe
The night is alive tonight
There are crickets
There are car engines
There are clicking and clacking shoes
There are bugs
The night is alive tonight
There is a small building
With good coffee
With ok wine
And french and italian decor
The night is alive tonight
There is light jazz
There is bread and herbs
There is a fire in the pizza oven
There is the clicking and clacking of shoes
The night is alive tonight
There is a bartender
who likes to tell jokes
and does tricks with forks and nails
who serves the ok wine
and offers the coffee afterwards
The night is alive tonight
There is a manager
Who never leaves
A girl who wants to stay
and a kitchen staff that speaks in dialects
and turns the pizza in the stone oven
The night is alive tonight
There is conversation
there is laughter
there are quiet old couples
who know enough
and hardly need to speak
they speak more than anyone
The night is alive tonight
there are sauces and herbs
that go with the bread
that is dipped in the wine
and is finished before coffee
and just after the pasta
that is made fresh in the mornings
The night is alive tonight
Inside is a party
Outside is an evening
full of bugs and of traffic
of crickets and of talking
and the clicking and clacking of shoes.
